Field House Etiquette

Every gymnasium has its rules and the Field House is no exception. The unspoken, common sense rules of the Field House are politely enforced by our student staff. All participants and users of the field house are required to follow these policies and etiquette, which include:

  • Anyone under 8 must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Report malfunctions, spills, broken equipment, etc. to the staff
  • Restrict the use of foul language - either written or spoken
  • Wear proper gym attire (non-scuffing athletic shoes, no denim)
  • No Food or Beverage (except water) inside pool or field house areas 
  • Failure to do so could result in possible loss of facility privileges. Any questions or comments should be directed to the supervisor on duty at the Main Desk.
  • Facilities will close 30 min before open rec hours close if no patrons are using the facilities

SAFETY FIRST!

Facilities rules are enforced at the discretion of the daily Supervisors. Safe, appropriate behavior is expected by all patrons. Those making a safe environment difficult will lose the privilege of the facilities for a specified time period.

Supervision

Children who are 8 years or younger must be accompanied by an ADULT (age 18+) at all times. Adult must be swimming with child at all times.

When should patrons arrive?

Patrons should arrive to allow enough time to get ready in the locker rooms. We recommend 5 minutes prior to scheduled open rec hours. The staff does NOT supervise participants either prior to or after dismissal from facilities.

What to bring?

Participants must furnish their own suits, locks, shoes and towels. We are not responsible for participants’ belongings.

Locker Room

Locker Room Attendants are NOT on duty; however, locker room checks will be made periodically by Field House staff. All program participants are encouraged to lock their valuables. For more information on locker rooms, including rules and fees, please visit our website http://www.msd. k12.wi.us/ or call the pool office at 715- 232-1197. You are responsible to assist your child in the locker room. A shower is required prior to entry in the pool area.

PLEASE NOTE: Youth 5 years or older must use the appropriate gender locker room. Plan accordingly.

Spectators

For safety reasons we ask that all spectators remain in the bleacher area ONLY.

Pool Toys

Toys from home are not allowed. There are many toys provided at the pool for all to enjoy. Participants are allowed to wear life jackets if they are coast guard certified. Life jackets are available at the Field House office.

Sports Equipment

You may bring your own basketball, volleyball or other sports equipment into the field house gyms, but we are not responsible for any lost or stolen equipment.

Facility Closings

Closure is determined when the supervisor/ lifeguard declares an emergency situation that includes, but not limited to the following:

♦ Rescue / accident situation
♦ Lightning or inclement weather

Swim Attire

All patrons within the pool area must be attired in swimming apparel. No street clothes are allowed in the pool. Clothing such as cut-offs, T-shirts, gym shorts and underwear is not permitted as swimwear.

Diving Boards

The diving well is intended for diving only. Anytime the diving boards are in use the diving well must be cleared of all persons other than divers. No general swimming is permitted in the diving area or diving well unless the diving boards are closed by staff. Only one person is allowed on the diving apparatus (including ladder) at a time.

Other Important Facilities Info

♦ Children under 3 years old or who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper – No Exceptions! Swim diapers may be purchased at the front desk.

♦ Pool Temperatures- We try to maintain a comfortable water temperature over 81 degrees.

♦ Must be age 12 to use weight room & cardio room.

♦ Put all weights away after use and wipe down and clean equipment after use

♦ Proper lifting attire must be worn at all times within the weight room

Equipment Check-out:

A wide range of equipment can be checked out from the pool office for open recreation use:Your student & Staff I.D., membership card or drivers licenses MUST BE surrendered to check out any equipment and the equipment must be returned in person by the individual who checked it out.

Participants are financially responsible for any loss or damage to equipment while it is in their possession. Our staff will be more than happy to set up a court and get you the equipment you need. 


Lost & Found Policy 

The M.H.S. Field house is not responsible for unattended personal items.

The lost & found for the M.H.S. Field house is located at the Pool Office inside the field-house facility on the south end of the Menomonie High School. You can inquire about items at the office, by phone (715-232-1197)

Valuables with personal information (e.g., wallets, ID's, credit cards) are kept in a secure location. If possible, the Field house Department will attempt to contact the owner via phone or e-mail.

Non-valuable items (clothing, towels, etc.) are placed in the lost and found barrel inside the pool area and are donated to at the end of each week.

Non-valuable paper items (notebooks, photocopies, calendars, etc.) are recycled at the end of each day.

Non-valuable items (shampoo, hair-combs, etc.) are thrown out at the end of each day.


Weather Policy

Safety first!  The pool will close at the first clap of thunder and/or strike of lightening.

The pool will remain closed until 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder and/or strike of lightening (as determined by the facility Supervisor and/or lifeguards on duty).

Check our website. If school is  delay, cancelled or let out early due to weather or any other reasons, all community education classes and Field House activities will also be cancelled as well.
